Much has been stated in the papers just a while ago about the bingo industry being hit as a result of the anti smoking law in England. Conditions have become so poor that in Scotland the Bingo industry has requested big tax breaks to assist in keeping the industry afloat. However will the web variation of this traditional game provide a lifeline, or might it not compare to its real life relative?

Bingo is an familiar game usually enjoyed by the "blue haired" generation. For all that the game recently had experienced a recent comeback in appeal with younger people deciding to visit the bingo halls instead of the bars on a weekend. This is all about to change with the introduction of the anti cigarette law across United Kingdom.

No longer will gamblers be allowed to puff on cigarettes while dabbing numbers. Starting in the summer of 2007 every public place will no longer be permitted to allow cigarettes in their venues and this includes Bingo parlors, which are possibly the most common locations where folks like to puff on cigarettes.

The results of the anti smoking law can already be felt in Scotland where cigarettes are already forbidden in the bingo parlours. Numbers have plummeted and the industry is beyond a doubt struggling for its life. But where did the players go? Surely they haven’t abandoned this classic game?

The answer is on the net. People know that they can gamble on bingo in front of their computer at the same time enjoying a beverage and smoke and in the end, enjoy monstrous jackpots. This is a recent development and has happened bordering on perfect with the anti smoking law.

Of course betting on on the web can never replace the communal aspect of heading over to the bingo parlour, but for a group of players the law has left a good many bingo enthusiasts with no option.
