An abundance has been talked in the press just a while ago regarding the bingo industry singing the blues as a consequence of the anti cigarette law in England. Conditions have grown so awful that in Scotland the Bingo industry has asked for huge tax breaks to help keep the businesses afloat. However will the online variation of this quintessential game offer a reprieve, or will it in no way compare to its bricks and mortar opposite?

Bingo has been an age old game usually played by the "blue haired" generation. For all that the game recently had witnessed a recent resurgence in acceptance with younger members of society deciding to go to the bingo halls rather than the discos on a weekend. All this is about to be reversed with the legislating of the anti smoking law all over Britain.

Players will no longer be allowed to puff on cigarettes at the same time dabbing numbers. From the summer of 2007 every public place will not be allowed to permit cigarettes in their venues and this includes Bingo parlours, which are possibly the most favored areas where folks enjoy smoking.

The results of the anti cigarette law can already be looked at in Scotland where smoking is already illegal in the bingo parlours. Numbers have plummeted and the business is absolutely struggling for to stay alive. But where have all the players gone? Surely they have not deserted this enduring game?

The answer is online. People know that they can enjoy bingo in front of their computer while enjoying a beverage and cig and in the end, enjoy massive prizes. This is a recent phenomenon and has timed itself just about perfectly with the ban on smoking.

Of course betting on online can never replace the communal part of heading over to the bingo parlour, but for a demographic of people the rules have left a number of bingo enthusiasts with no alternative.
