An abundance has been reported in the press just a while ago concerning the bingo industry being hurt because of the cigarette ban in England. Conditions have grown so poor that in Scotland the Bingo industry has called for massive tax cuts to assist in keeping the businesses from going bankrupt. However will the net adaptation of this traditional game provide a reprieve, or will it in no way compare to its land based relative?

Bingo has been an familiar game generally played by the "blue haired" generation. In any case the game recently had witnessed a recent return in appeal with younger men and women opting to go to the bingo parlours instead of the bars on a Saturday night. All this is about to be destroyed with the introduction of the anti smoking law throughout United Kingdom.

No longer will gamblers be allowed to smoke while dabbing numbers. From the summer of ‘07 every public location will no longer be allowed to permit cigarettes in their buildings and this includes Bingo parlours, one of the most favorite places where players enjoy smoking.

The results of the cigarette ban can already be felt in Scotland where smoking is already prohibited in the bingo halls. Players have plunged and the business is beyond a doubt struggling for its life. But where have all the players gone? Obviously they have not given up on this enduring game?

The answer is on the internet. Gamblers know that they can bet on bingo in front of their computer at the same time enjoying a cocktail and fag and still have a chance at monstrous cash rewards. This is a recent development and has happened almost perfectly with the anti cigarette law.

Of course gambling on on the internet is unlikely to replace the social part of heading down to the bingo hall, but for a group of men and women the governing edicts have left a lot of bingo enthusiasts with little choice.
